The Scottish Government has recently informed us that they will now refer to the Asian hornet, Vespa velutina nigrithorax, as the `yellow-legged hornet, also known as Asian hornet’, and have produced a newsletter to raise awareness and encourage extra vigilance for yellow-legged hornets, also known as Asian hornets, over the coming months.

Yellow-Legged (formerly Asian) Hornet NEWSLETTER
This newsletter aims to highlight to beekeepers and members of the public how to spot and report this non-native invasive species, as well as give advice on how people can take part in targeted observations during the months where we are most likely to spot a yellow-legged (formerly Asian) hornet.
