IPM for varroa, pests and adult bee

Workshops & Courses
Date: Saturday, 24 February 2018 09:00 - 16:30

Venue: Portmoak Hall, Scotlandwell

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a widely-used tool in agriculture in order to minimise the use of chemicals for pest control. The techniques help to keep populations of pests at levels below the threshold at which they damage their hosts thus delaying the use of such chemicals and helping to avoid or delay the onset of resistance of pests to effective treatments. We will focus on varroa control, adult bee diseases and the potential threat from other exotic pests of honeybees such as the small hive beetle and the Asian hornet. This course includes Microscopy work and will be good revision for students taking the SBA Microscopy exam at the end of March.

This 2 day course is heavily subsidised by SRDP KTIF, (EU and Scottish Govt) and will cost students just £60 which includes refreshments and a light lunch on both dates
